A Plague on Your Houses: How New York Was Burned Down and National Public Health Crumbled (Haymarket)
A Plague on Your Houses is a scorching indictment of the decision to close fire companies in New York City in the 1970s and a frightening study of the way misguided and malevolent social policy can spark a chain reaction of enormous and unforeseen urban collapse. Crumbled Thoughts: Excerpts From the Mind
Some of these writings speak of demons. Addiction and mental illness are demons which affect millions of people either singularly, or, as in my case, together I have lived with them and through them for almost thirty years. During my recovery, I became very involved in what is known as the "Consumer Movement" in an effort to improve treatment and the quality of life for people dealing with addiction and/or mental illness. I've seen first hand some wonderful people doing wonderful things to support that effort. I've also seen the dark side, such as the lack of respect and dignity with which people are sometimes treated or the stigma attached to the illness and disease. It is my hope that this book will give hope and encouragement to others such as myself, and their families and loved ones. We all have something to offer to this world. .
