From the supplier: California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi has drafted a proposed earthquake insurance program for California homeowners. The proposal would create a pool of insurance money from premiums and an expanded pool from other insurance premiums to fund losses due to earthquake damage. Many insurance companies have ceased writing new earthquake insurance policies since the Jan 1994 Northridge earthquake. Garamendi's plan would provide a maximum payout of $750,000 per insured.
