From the supplier: Comedian Buster Keaton adapted a slapstick style in acting that has been regularly compared with his contemporary Charlie Chaplin. However, Keaton's works were more concerned with portraying people who were increasingly overwhelmed by the complexity of modern society, particularly the machines that seemed to dehumanize existence while ostensibly trying to ease its burdens. These films have been remastered and released as a set of of feature films and reel shorts by Kino on Video.

From the supplier: Soviet cinema reached its pinnacle in terms of quality and quantity in the years after the 10th anniversary of the Revolution in 1927. During this golden period, several notable works were produced including 'October,' 'Man with a Movie Camera,' 'The End of St Petersburg,' 'New Babylon,' The Eleventh Year' and 'Fragment of an Empire.' However, Soviet filmmaking began to deteriorate in the 1930s when bureaucratic monopoly over filmmaking stifled the spirit of innovation.
